About us

The Chobe Team

Chobe Game Lodge is a community, and from the very beginning we have strived to make our guests part of this from the moment they arrive.

Central to this is valuing our people, and making Chobe a wonderful place to work, as well as a wonderful place to visit.

Our Youth Trainee Development project is aimed at providing opportunities for young people from the local communities by giving them the chance to learn from our experienced, trained staff.

Another key focus is gender equality and creating better employment opportunities for women in the Botswana tourism industry. Since 2005 Chobe Game Lodge has been training women in the guiding fraternity and today has a full complement of professionally trained female guides.

Behind the scenes, we foster a dedication to the green issues, through various eco initiatives aimed at lessening our footprint on the local environment, but also increasing local awareness of best eco practice.

GUIDING TEAM

Our experienced guides are experts in getting you to the thick of the action, land or water

In 2007, the first female joined the Chobe Game Lodge safari guiding team. Witnessing the exceptional performance of these women at work and recognising the underrepresentation of women in senior positions within the safari sector, we embarked on a mission to recruit more ladies into internships and from guiding schools. By 2010, Chobe Game Lodge had formed the first-ever all-female guiding team in Africa. Aptly named the 'Chobe Angels,' our team of guides is dedicated to providing extra-special care to ensure that every guest has the experience of a lifetime.

BACK OF HOUSE

The crucial behind the scenes superstars.

From our friendly and chatty laundry department to our skilled mechanics and carpenters, we have a dedicated team committed to maintaining Chobe Game Lodge's appearance and operations in top-notch condition. Whether it's the cheerful pool attendant welcoming you on your way to the boat safari or a friendly warthog maintaining the grass in front of your room, managing the property in this remote environment comes with its unique challenges. Our team takes immense pride in going to great lengths to minimise our impact on this pristine ecosystem.

FRONT OF HOUSE

The smiling face of Chobe!

Our team of waiters, barmen, and concierge staff is always present and ready to assist with your every need. We share the same excitement for the Chobe experience, and every guest feels more like a temporary member of our family than a mere visitor to our lodge. If you’re lucky, you might catch the front of house team choir performing one evening. A chorus of stunning African rhythm that will be sure to lift your heart and stay with you forever.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Renowned for our food, our incredible team create culinary delights inside and out.

With a brand-new kitchen completed in September 2023, our kitchen team now has state-of-the-art facilities to craft incredible meals. Each menu is inspired by the seasons, offering light chilled soups for hot days and hearty fireside meals for cool evenings, all made with freshly sourced ingredients. Our in-house chef training school aims to impart international skills to local chefs, and we are proud to have a brilliant team of local chefs ready to make your dining experience at Chobe Game Lodge truly memorable.

RECEPTION

Our welcoming staff will make sure your stay runs smoothly.

Our reception and admin team work closely with our head office in Maun and travel specialist partners from around the world. Their goal is to gather as much information as possible about every guest to be available at a moment's notice for assistance. No request is too much for our friendly reception team.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

Running a tight ship behind the scenes.

One of the most common compliments from our guests is how our team radiates happiness and operates as a unified family. Our management collaborates closely with department heads to create a work environment that is both enjoyable and professional, resulting in peak performance from each staff member. Happy staff translates to happy guests, and at Chobe Game Lodge, our management takes great pride in upholding the highest standards across every aspect of the guest experience.

ECO MANAGEMENT

Keeping our footprint as light as possible.

Everything we do behind the scenes is aimed at minimising our environmental footprint. Our motto is "Reduce, Reuse & Recycle." Whether it's transforming glass bottles into recycled bricks or using solar-powered electric utility vehicles for back-of-house transportation, we encourage every guest to join a back-of-house ecotour to see for themselves and meet the individuals responsible for running one of the most sustainable properties in this pristine environment.

GUEST RELATIONS

Looking after our guest’s experience from arrival to departure

Situated at the arrivals area of the lodge, our guest relations team is at your service to manage every aspect of your stay. As one of the busiest departments in the lodge, they liaise with every department, from guides to the kitchen team and laundry. No special request is too much for our guest relations team, who are available from morning till night to ensure that nothing is overlooked when it comes to enjoying your visit to this exceptional part of Africa.
